Located about 600 km north-west of Tamanrasset, the Tassili N’Ajjer or Tassili Azguer, is a vast sandstone plateau, of lunar aspects, of a great beauty.
It appears as an iceberg stranded in the middle of a sea of sand; it forms a ribbon 750 km long and a width that varies from 60 to 100 km, covers 120 000km² and culminates at 1500 m altitude.
Tassili N’Ajjer emerges from the sands that surround him on the majority of its periphery: in the East the Libyan seas of sand, in the South, the immense Ténéré and the Erg of Admer, in the north, the Erg Isouane and the Erg Boutharet.
